As he unveiled new signing Kevin Gameiro , Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, was effusive in his praise for the French striker.
With the transfer saga surrounding the forward finally concluded, Cerezo made it clear that the man who netted 29 goals last season for Sevilla has all the qualities needed to make this new chapter in his career at the Estadio Vicente Calderon a roaring success.
"[Gameiro] likes scoring goals, he has plenty in him; he's a real pro and his talent and professionalism has made him one of the best goalscorers around today," he told the assembled press.
"He's perfectly suited to this league and his speed and intensity are just two of the qualities that convinced us to make such an effort to secure his services."
The president then turned directly to address the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker.
"We know you had a lot of good offers so we have to thank you for joining our project," he stated. "Your character, courage and international spirit fit our model.
"You can bring a lot right from the word go, throughout your career you have shown quality and the willingness to work hard."
Cerezo even joked with reference to another recent signing, after stating that he couldn't say Sime Vrsaljko's name, joking that Gameiro's name was easier to pronounce.
