Goalkeeper: We're not usually fond of picking goalkeepers that ended up on the losing side but we'll make an exception for Jordan Pickford. If it wasn't for him, Sunderland could have lost 10-0 instead of 1-0 at White Hart Lane. He made a host of saves, but saved the best for a curling Erik Lamela effort that seemed destined for the far corner until he got the tiniest of fingertip touches. "Without him, things could have been a lot worse for David Moyes," says Shaka Hislop.
Right-back: There's plenty of love for Seamus Coleman after the Everton full-back scored a superb solo goal in the comfortable 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough. Paul Mariner said the Irishman was solid at the back and showed "great composure with his goal." Coleman edges out Hislop's selection of Tottenham's Kyle Walker.
Centre-back: Scott Dann is the first of two goal-scoring centre-backs after he played his part in a bristling first-half display from Crystal Palace. Poor Stoke were punished by two set pieces early on, the first converted by James Tomkins, the second by Dann, who has a knack of scoring aerial goals. Hislop says the goals "took the wind out of Stoke's sails and made for an easy-ish day at the back."
Centre-back: Alongside Dann is Dejan Lovren . The Liverpool man was in fine fettle as Jurgen Klopp's men claimed three points from Stamford Bridge for the second successive season with a 2-1 win on Friday night. For the most part, Lovren kept the in-form Diego Costa quiet, and he popped up with a superb goal at the other end. Mariner was impressed how Lovren led the line.
Left-back: This was more like it from Leicester and more like it from Christian Fuchs. After that midweek Champions League triumph against Club Brugge, the Premier League title-holders swept Burnley aside with ease. Mariner thinks the left-back had a big hand in their 3-0 triumph, shoring up his flank and delivering quality into the box, evident when supplying the opening goal for Islam Slimani.
Right-midfield: "Messi is on a table on his own. No one else is allowed. But the table beside, Kevin can sit there." Pep Guardiola is not sorting out his birthday dinner, but discussing the best players he's coached. Kevin De Bruyne is second only to Messi, apparently, and after an electric display against Bournemouth in City's 4-0 win it was eulogy o'clock. Mariner called it a "supreme performance" and Hislop agrees.
Centre-midfield: There's a swell of admiration growing for Idrissa Gueye and he's certainly growing in stature in the blue of Everton. He was superb in the win over Boro, and as Mariner points out, covered every blade of grass, disrupting the visitors' possession as he went. Hislop was similarly taken with the Senegalese.
Centre-midfield: What a win for Watford. Having taken the game to Manchester United and got themselves in front, it had been expected they'd sit back once Marcus Rashford equalised, but not a bit of it. They pushed on and sealed a famous 3-1 win. There were heroes in yellow everywhere, but we've plumped for
Etienne Capoue , who opened the scoring and now has four goals to his name this season.
Left-midfield: Scoring two and setting two up on your home debut for your new club? Welcome to Team of the Week, Nacer Chadli. After slotting an early penalty, he then set up goals for Salomon Rondon and James McClean before a lung-busting, length of the field run to tap home his second and his side's fourth. Penny for your thoughts West Ham fans? Mariner and Hislop are adamant he's in the side after his hand in West Brom's 4-2 win over Slaven Bilic's men.
Attacking-midfield: It's a real toughie as to who gets to play just behind our striker, with a hat trick of contenders jostling for position after fine weekends. Son Heung-Min was brilliant for Spurs, but should have found the nest at least once. Andros Townsend was superb and did manage to find the net. But our pundits have gone for Alexis Sanchez. After his brace at Hull in Arsenal's 4-1 success at Hull, Mariner is in no doubt that the Chilean is the Gunners' best player. Hislop agrees.
Striker: Bagging a brace on your Premier League debut helps when you also happen to be your club's record signing. Islam Slimani used his head, twice, to net from close range and announce himself in the top flight. The first was all about power, the second more about poaching after fine work from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Hislop was mightily impressed.
Manager: For his bravery and determination to get one over his old adversary, Watford's Walter Mazzarri gets the nod. As Mariner points out, he made some brilliant substitutions, Juan Zuniga scoring the important second goal moments after coming off the bench. After tussles in Serie A, in which some bitter words were exchanged, this win will have been sweet as for big Walt, and he edges out Hislop's choice -- Jurgen Klopp, the Premier League's chief hugger.
