Schalke have told Manchester City that they need to agree a deal to sign Leroy Sane by noon on Monday or the transfer is off.
The 20-year-old is one of Pep Guardiola’s key transfer targets and Goal understands that City remain confident of securing a deal.
Schalke travel to Austria on Monday afternoon to continue their pre-season preparations, and the Bundesliga club insist they require the Germany international’s future sorted before he travels.
Either we come to terms or we don’t,” Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel told Kicker .
“But if Leroy boards the plane to Austria with us he'll stay a player of this club.”
